Blanca's experience in Peru: "I am left with the good relationship with the volunteers and the affectivity, affection and energy of the boys and girls"

Blanca's experience in Peru: "I am left with the good relationship with the volunteers and the affectivity, affection and energy of the boys and girls"

It was probably one of the best experiences I have ever had.. I have learned a lot from the project, from my colleagues and from myself. But above all from the little ones, children with many problems and disadvantages but with a huge heart.

Blanca, in the middle, with other project volunteers.

The project is from Monday to Friday with 2 shifts, one in the morning from 8:30 to 11:30 and one in the afternoon from 15:00 to 19:00. You can attend both shifts or just one. The morning shift is usually quieter because there are not so many children, the afternoon shift is crazy but a lot of fun. I went in the afternoons.

Is a community where we help each other, adults and children, and where we all learn from each other.. Please arrive 10 minutes early to prepare what is needed and be ready to receive the children. From 15:00 to 17:00 in the afternoon the children will be doing homework (if they have it), other art workshops, body expression, computers and games.

I spent the first 2 weeks giving homework support for the older children and the third week in the art workshops for the younger ones.. There are about 100 children between 5 and 14 years old.

In the third hour, we met to make the expression circleWe all participate, children and volunteers. We deal with subjects that the children don't see in the official school, such as tolerance, teamwork, alcoholism etc. The children go after their official school.

In the last hour we met by families, according to age and we prepared the week's performance held every Friday which can be theatre, a song or anything we can think of. When I was there, we dealt with themes of Quechua symbology.

Volunteering is not only the hours you go to the Village, in the mornings you have to report and prepare for the Friday show and prepare the art classes if you are in workshops.

At the end of the day you end up exhausted but the experience couldn't be better and the atmosphere is unbeatable!

In general I liked everything, but I would like to highlight the good relationship with some of the volunteers and the affection, affection and energy of the children.
