Educational solidarity trip to Ecovillage in the Sacred Valley

Collaborate in a small educational project located in the heart of the Sacred Valley, carrying out educational activities in the natural outdoors.

Educational solidarity trip to Ecovillage in the Sacred Valley

from 460€ por persona

Help with homework, art workshops, activities, games and outdoor activities for children and the community of the Sacred Valley.

This project is located in the village of lamay and consists of a community house whose The main objective is to provide a safe space for the whole community with the idea of offering a place for the local population to meet, exchange and learn. We work both with children at risk of exclusion living in the area and with their families to offer them a safe space where they can develop the values of identity, friendship, community, inclusion and learning.

This centre has a library and technology area, a toy library, an area for various workshops, various clubs (reading, cinema, sports, etc.).

The centre originally opened its doors in 2015 in the Sacred Valley but has recently moved to the village of Lamay in this new concept of integrated community support.

The number of people who come to the centre varies according to their needs and availability at the time, as well as the age of the children, although the usual range is between the ages of 3-4 years at 15 years. Many of these children have had to drop out of school or attend school for a short time because they work to support their families. The timetable for working with them is in the afternoons.

This project works towards achieving the following Sustainable Development Goals

SDG 1 End poverty
SDG 2 Zero Hunger
SDG 3 Health and well-being
SDG 4 Quality education
SDG 5 Gender equality
SDG 10 Reducing inequalities

A day in the project
“In the mornings they have breakfast starting at 7:30 (but not before greeting us all with a kiss and hug) and then each one does a bit of what they feel like most: being in the relaxation areas, going out to walk through the mountains, bathe in the river, go to town or go to the surrounding towns that are part of the Sacred Valley and that can be enjoyed a lot. At 1:15 p.m. there is lunch and at 3:00 p.m. the children begin to come little by little. We do homework with those who have homework from school (they are usually a couple of cards or about four pages of an activity book), then when we finish we prepare a joint game or activity if we see that it is feasible or we separate the children by age or interest to be able to play with them. The outdoor spaces are used a lot, it is an incomparable environment and they enjoy a lot. We have played spinning tops, table football, volleyball, ball games, we have made collages with recycled material, face painting... and Friday is movie day, so children and adults take the opportunity to watch a movie together. At the end of the day, a cup of milk is distributed to the children and we make a small evaluation. When finished, the little school is fixed and cleaned and we are going to have dinner at approximately 7:00 p.m. (it is already very dark and cold there). After dinner, activities of interest to the guests are usually programmed: stargazing, campfire, meditation, games...  Life here is very familiar and calm”
