He is only 19 years old, but this summer he has already experienced a Solidarity, enriching and learning experience: a Solidarity trip to Kenya, through Tumaini. He collaborated in an NGO that welcomes street boys and girls, offers them a home and education so that they aspire to a better future. This is your experience.

How was the preparation of your trip? Did you get all the information you needed from Tumaini?

Yeah, I received very complete information. Then doubts arise once there, but Monica has had no problem calling us on WhatsApp or writing to us when we needed it.

How was your day to day in the project?

The volunteering consisted of Support the children's classes. There were two groups: the youngest or newcomers and the oldest, who had to prepare to enter school. After school, we played with them or we would have to cook with Papa David.

Is there an anecdote that you remember with special fondness?

The memory that I have most engraved in my retina, in my heart and in my head is the first day with a little girl named Alima. He was from the group of boys and girls who had just been picked up from the street. An hour later, we were at the "dumpside" (garbage) seeing where many of the children came from.

Playing with the children is one of the tasks of the volunteers.

What has been the best part of your solidarity trip?

Live it. That is to say, being able to be with the boys and girls, that they dedicate a smile to you no matter what is behind you.

Paula collaborated with shelter for street children in Mombasa, in Kenya, from 07/08 to 08/02/2019.
