In November, Raquel did her first solidarity trip to India. He collaborated with two projects: one solidarity nursery in the morning and English classes for Tibetan refugees in the evenings. Rate your experience with a 9 out of 10. The best of the trip? “The time with the boys and girls. The love they give you is unconditional!”

What was an ordinary day like at the McLeod Ganj Solidarity Nursery?

The day started early: I collaborated in the nursery from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. When he left, he was going to have a tea and eat something. At 4 p.m. there were English classes with Tibetan monks, until 5 p.m. Once finished, we would get together with volunteers and friends from there and we would have tea and chat for a while until dinner time.

Surely, during your solidarity trip, you lived a lot of anecdotes or funny moments. Can you tell us any?

I remember with great joy the boys and girls in the nursery when they thought that all the volunteers called each other "Hello", and how happy they were when we arrived in the morning. On Fridays we did double shifts at the nursery, since in the afternoon we took the little ones to the Dalai Lama's temple to play.

Another important moment was the conversations with tibetan monks, who always asked what football team you were from, which really shocked me!

What did you like the most about the experience?

Without a doubt, the time with the boys and girls and the smiles they give you. The love they give you is unconditional! In addition, I liked sharing this experience with other volunteers, meeting local people and sharing moments of 10 with them... And, above all, the change of mentality that I have brought home regarding culture, traditions and religion. Positive to 100%.

And the least?

accommodation and cold

What overall note do you give to the experience?

A 9 out of 10.

The smiles of the boys and girls were incredible.

What advice would you give to a person who is going to make this solidarity trip?

Bring a sleeping bag, because it is very cold. If you are going to be there for 3 or more weeks, it is advisable to buy a heater right there, since a new one is cheaper than renting it there.

Raquel collaborated with the solidarity nursery and with English classes tibetan refugees in McLeod Ganj (India) from November 3 to 25, 2018.
