No crowded streets. No tourists taking photos everywhere. Taking a charity trip outside the summer period is becoming more and more common! Fernando Jiménez has collaborated in the little school of Cusco between November and December 2018. He has coincided with various volunteers with whom he was "warm from day one" and he has loved his relationship with the boys and girls.

How was the day to day in the project?

The volunteers used to meet at the hostel at 2:30 p.m. to go to school together. Once there, we played with the little ones, we held workshops (art, computers, dance, games and tutorials) and we did therapy on different topics (equality, gender violence, family, etc.).

The most original thing about this project is that we met in small groups of children and volunteers, called “families”. In each family, we developed the subject matter. The day ended with a snack and playing until the parents came to pick up the children.

What did you like the most about your solidarity trip?

The relationship, both with the children and with the volunteers! Boys and girls from the first moment will give you love demonstrations. The volunteers had twinning and warmth from the first day.

And the least?

The short time I was.

How were you received in the project?

Brilliant. The first days they worried so that he suffered as little as possible from altitude sickness, and the remaining days his treatment was friendly, affectionate and attentive.

What moment of your trip do you remember most fondly?

I really liked Fridays, since to conclude with the weekly themes, we would put on a "show". In it, each family showed what they had done during the week. The show was very varied: from theater or songs to parades through the city. Both the children and the volunteers had a great time!
